Music Week

Oct 12th, 2009 | 0 comments

Film is over with Chris Leong, so now we’re focusing on the the music – getting an original song from Dave Eggar and Co., and now meeting with esteemed music supervisor Joe Rudge. We’re showing Joe a cut of the film this afternoon and then going over what songs can fit in.

The tracks from Dave are absolutely lights out. I’ll try to post something later and get some thoughts. Soooooo good.

coming soon…. clips from the recording session..

Yes, I realize that the “coming soon, video clips!” thing is a little overdone, but what the hell, we’ve been busy! So, weekend update:

1. Screened the film for our esteemed executive producer Mike Maloy. It went really well. He gave us some brilliant notes, per usual, and then offered us some praise – coming from him, it was a major compliment. Mike has impeccable taste and instincts, and doesn’t compliment people lightly. So, you know, that was nice.

2. We worked extensively with Dave Eggar on the original song for the film. It’s always a pleasure, to understate, to work so closely with someone universally acknowledged as one of the most brilliant musicians on the planet. We will be posting video of the session in the next week or so. It’s remarkable footage, especially of Brian nitpicking a musical genius’ individual notes. Hilarious.

After a long stretch of drudgery and difficult and draining hours and labor intensive weeks and months, it’s starting to come together. There’s a little pop to our step that wasn’t there before. Feeling good, and getting better all the time.

We met with Dave Eggar yesterday who is going to write an original song for the film. Dave is a virtuoso musician in the purest sense, one of the great classical prodigies of our time. No exaggeration. I’ve seen him play a Paganini cello concerto and then walk over to a grand piano to “improvise” some Rachmaninoff. Unreal.

We’re thrilled obviously. Besides that, we’re going to be interviewed by Beth Black at Toastmasters magazine soon. I’ve already told Brian he can’t mention anything about that time he did that thing that resulted in this other thing that had vague results on another thing. He’s upset about it but that’s the deal.
