rough cut complete

A rough cut was completed at 5:16 AM, September 21st, in Venice, California.  It weighs 2 hours 21 minutes long, and is in good health.  It has, like, an ending on it and everything.

Now the real work begins, which means we’ll be cutting out 25-30 minutes of the film.

the fear of public speaking

this will be brief – but it was pretty hilarious that Brian and I were “feeling the fear” before we walked on stage to give some words about the screening.  It’s so true about the fear … there were times I knew what I was saying, but the amount of focus it takes to think on  your feet, communicate your idea effectively, connect with an audience… ugh… ain’t easy is what I’m saying.  It was a trip to attend so many meetings to get over the fear of public speaking and be a better communicator and then to actually get up and experience the fear itself.  At least we were told we looked good in suits!

Will we get better with more stage time?  Thoughts?

what an event

What a thrilling couple of nights at the Toastmasters Convention at Foxwoods casino.  It was such a relief to start showing a cut of the film to an audience – especially 500 people!  What a turnout.  It’s always an amazing feeling when people seem to connect with the material – when they see what brought you to the project in the first place.  People laughed, and then people actually cried at certain parts.  The emotion was totally due to the stories of the contestants themselves.  They’re pretty astonishing people.   Not trying to be a boastful film knucklehead, but we were pretty proud of the overall reaction.
